Respecting Authors
The whole idea behind World Smithing is that it's a cooperative endeavor. When lots of separate individuals all contribute to a single world, it gains the life and unpredictability that we aim for here. Without ll our authors being respected and feeling free to contribute, this will won't happen.
First of all, be nice. That should go without saying. Don't make fun of anyone, and when you're critical be constructive about it. If you're a jerk to other writers, I'll ban you.
Here's a couple more, very important notes on respecting your fellow author; 1) stick to the founder's intent. Although World Smithing is supposed to be extremely open ended, worlds will have general themes that should be stuck to. If someone wants to write a world about humans in the future but doesn't want aliens, don't put aliens in your story. If a world is "low fantasy", don't make every other character you introduce a fireball hurling mage. 2) Everything is cannon. Assuming it follows the above rule, anything anyone writes is cannon (meaning it's an accepted part of the history). Just because you don't agree with someone's contribution, doesn't mean you can contradict or ignore it. Discuss it, work it out, get along.
Please, be considerate and keep these guidelines in mind while writing so this can be a better, more enjoyable experience for everyone.
